One of the quickest ways to increase an athlete's sprint speed is to increase the turnover in their upper body. The trick is to get the athlete to to fire his elbows backwards past his torso. Once the elbowpasses the torso during a sprint, the lower body automatically responds and fires in sync with the upper body.


Hand Weights serve to increase upper body turnover through contrast training in an exercise we call "drops". Athletes fight through the resistance of the Hand Weights in the first segment of a sprint. The Hand Weights are then dropped at the mid point of the sprint and the second half is completed free. This technique is unmatched in teaching athletes to harness the hidden power in their upper bodies.
